Although long denied by Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, AutoExpress is reporting that Nissan is readying a stretched version of it's GT-R supercar.
The 4-door variant is to have 4-doors and instead of featuring the GT-R's 3.8L turbocharged V6, the Infiniti model would get a version of FX50's 5.0L V8. It would come standard with the rest of the GT-R drivetrain including it's rear mounted transaxle and all-wheel drive. They're expecting horsepower to be about 420 and 0-60 time in the low 5-seconds. The model would be a reincarnation of the discontinued Q line and would go head-to-head perfromance-wise with the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

As we told you here last Friday, the FIA, the governing body of Formula One, wants to use standard spec engines as of 2010 in an effort to reduce development costs and to even out the field in relation to engine technology.
On Tuesday the FIA met with the Formula One Teams Association to discuss methods for decreasing costs while still allowing teams to use their own engines. According to reports, some of the agreements made include extending the mandatory engine life from 2 races to 3, and making it mandatory for manufacturer teams to make their 25 engines available to independant teams at a cost of 10 million euros each.

On Tuesday we told you here that Chrysler had dropped it's V6 program codenamed "Phoenix".
Chrysler vice-chairman Jim Press says that the rumours are false. He says that Chrysler is moving "full steam ahead" on the program and prototypes are already at the testing phase.

Nissan has apparently made an offer to buy 20 percent of privately owned Chrysler.
The deal would keep Chrysler intact, one part of a larger company which includes Nissan from Japan and Renault from Europe. There is already a deal between Nissan and Chrysler that gets the Japanese maker a version of the Ram pickup truck and in return Chrysler gets a Nissan small car. Chrysler is also in talks with GM regarding a possible merger ... but those two companies have many overlapping products and Chrysler would probably see itself dismantled.

Rumour has it that Chrysler has dropped it's $3 billion V6 project codenamed "Phoenix".
This adds fuel to the fire of a possible merger between Chrysler and GM or perhaps Renaul/Nissan. Both of these potential partners have V6 engines that are vastly superior to anything Chrysler has, and why would they develop a new one if they knew their future partner alerady had a great one?

With the new clean diesel law coming into effect, manufacturers have come up with ways to mean the new standards. One way is by using NOx traps to capture the NOx. Another is to use urea injection to convert the harmful NOx into less harmful gases.
Mercedes BlueTEC diesels use the urea injecion method utilizing a tank of urea stored in the spare tire compartment. When a sensor determines that the tank is running empty of is contaminated, it will display a counter on the dashboard counting down from 20. The driver had until the tank reaches zero to refill the tank. Should they ignore the counter, the vehicle will not start. And to answer your questions ... yes, urea is a component in urine, and no, peeing in your urea tank will not work.

The Scion brand will finally be coming to Canada. Up until now if a Canadian wanted a Scion they had to but one in the U.S. and import it into Canada. As of 2010, this will no longer be necssary.
Ordering a Scion will be ensentially the same as south of the border ... the cars come vanilla plain but can be customized to the teeth by the buyer.

It was clear the moment that Inifniti released the 330-hp G37 Coupe that it would only be a matter of time until that engine was placed under the hood of the sedan. It took a whole year, but for 2009 the sedan will be getting the larger engine.
Pricing for the sedan will start at $33,250. This will get you a base version with the 3.7L V6 and a 7-speed automatic. Pricing for the coupe starts at $35,900. Both version come in four variations ... Base, Journey, S Sport (which comes with a 6-speed manual) and x AWD.
